Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have actually been seized by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

"These types of items being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health."
